Induction for Nursery Children
30 June 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are planning induction for Nursery children beginning on Tuesday 1st September. On the Tuesday and Wednesday we are planning to have small groups of children accompanied by one parent. This will be a short session in the classroom so that the children can meet their teacher and classroom assistant. Details of this will be sent via email closer to the time. On Thursday and Friday, we will increase the small groups to 7 or 8 pupils. The children will come to school and be met at the Nursery door by their teacher Mrs Quigley and nursery assistant Mrs Johnston. This will allow the children to get to know their friends in a smaller group before we move to half class sizes. We are using this approach to make sure we see all of our pupils for some time each day to become familiar with school, teachers and assistants. We are doing this to ensure the children feel happy, safe and secure.
Children will remain in their own classroom for the time they are in school, with the opportunity for packed lunch being delivered to the classroom by the EA meal service. In addition to ensuring your child’s safety, by practising social distancing and hand washing, we are putting in place additional protective measures to keep your children safe. We will ensure the classroom is cleaned between sessions.
If we receive any further guidance, we will inform you by email, website or Facebook page.
We look forward to coming back in September and having all of our Nursery pupils in school as much as possible, while making sure they are safe as they learn new skills and knowledge in a caring and nurturing environment.
Yours faithfully
Mary Mc Callion, Catriona Quigley and Diane Johnston
